Individuality

At this point in my life, I feel like I've developed a good sense of my own individuality. Nearing 20, I'm aware of my personality and interests. Although you never stop growing as a person, I believe I'm at a good mold. I've shaped myself to be who I want and I know what's me and what isn't.

Individuality is important. It's what makes you different and special; no one wants to be the same as everyone else. That's boring and quite frankly, annoying.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but in the end, it's annoying. I just want to scream out, "be your own person!"

As a kid, I never liked it when people "copied" me. It was vain of me to assume they were copying me but in a controlled friend group, it was pretty obvious when someone was changing to someone they were not.

And I think that's the saddest part. As a friend, seeing someone you care about change into someone they aren't is disappointing. Especially if they are changing for someone else's sake.

Don't change yourself for anybody.

Be yourself. If you pretend to be something you're not, you're never going to be comfortable in your own skin or worse, you'll regret who you've become.

Being able to balance different styles is understood but changing who you are as a person and how you act is very different.
